2009 MCBR Players Notice

Good morning. VCBS is starting the process for selecting the players for the 2009 MCBR travel baseball season. We have included the process that VCBS uses for any child who may have an interest in playing travel baseball. The entire 2009 MCBR Travel Program Information can be downloaded from the VCBS website under the DOCUMENTS tab.
 
The try outs and open gyms will be in January for both the 9/10 and 11/12 MCBR teams. Dates of open gyms and try out dates will be posted and communicated on the web site and via email during the month of December.
 
 
The information regarding the player selection process for the 2009 MCBR season is as follows:
 
COMPETITIVE TEAM SELECTION PROCESS:
The VCBS Competitive Baseball Program will select the players that best represent VCBS in games against teams from surrounding areas. The Competitive Team Selection Process involves the evaluation of many tangible and intangible factors. Some of these include:
  • Baseball skills and ability
  • Competitive baseball experience
  • Eligibility
  • Attitude & Work Ethic
  • Sportsmanship
  • Commitment and Availability
Determination of Eligibility
VCBS Competitive Teams will be comprised of players with a specific ‘baseball age’ at each level of play. A player’s ‘baseball age’ is his/her age as of April 30, 2009
The 2009 VCBS Baseball Age Eligibility Guidelines are:
·      Only players with 2009 baseball ages of 9 or 10 may try out for VCBS 9/10 teams.
·      Only players with 2009 baseball ages of 11 or 12 may try out for VCBS 11/12 teams
All Competitive Team players must reside within the boundaries of the Victor School District. 
 
Selection:

Following the last tryout session, the Competitive Selection Committee will meet to select the players invited to join the Competitive Team. The selection of players for the Competitive Team will be based on the results of the tryout and each selector’s evaluation of the candidates in terms of the selection criteria described above. To be selected to the team, a player must win the support of at least two of the three selectors on the Committee. All rosters will be submitted to the VCBS board for approval before informing players of their outcomes.
Final team rosters will be announce February 10.

You can register and pay online for the MCBR Open Gyms and MCBR Try Outs at www.victorbaseball.com.  On the left side of the home page please click on the "ONLINE FORMS"  and it will take you through the registration process and give you two options for payment.

2009 9/10 & 11/12 MCBR Coaches Notice

Good morning. VCBS is starting the process for selecting the Head Coaches for the 2009 MCBR travel baseball season. We have included the process that VCBS uses for any person who may have an interest in coaching. The 2009 MCBR Coaching Application can be downloaded from the VCBS website under the DOCUMENTS tab. Also listed in the DOCUMENTS page is the 2009 MCBR Travel Baseball Information, which will provide you with information regarding the MCBR travel program.

Baseball - 11/12 & 9/10 MCBR Travel Teams Head Coach Selection Process
 
 Objective:
 
The objective of the 2009 VCBS 11/12 Team & 9/10 Team Head Coach Selection Process is to establish a procedure for VCBS to fairly and consistently evaluate and select head coaching volunteers for its 2009 MCBR travel teams. 
The process is designed to award head coaching assignments to candidates that exhibit superior capabilities to:
 1.       Assist young players in improving their baseball skills
2.       Teach young players a better understanding of baseball rules and strategy
3.       Promote sportsmanship, fair play and a respect for umpires
4.       Represent VCBS in a positive manner
 
 Selection Process:
 
Applications:
 
 ·         Prior to its Winter Training season, VCBS will issue a call for volunteers interested in head coaching a 2009 MCBR Travel teams. 
·         Interested head coaches will be asked to submit a brief application
·         Applications should be returned by December 15, 2008
Selection Committee
 
·        President, the Director of Baseball Operations and one (1) At-Large Selector.
·         Any VCBS Board member wishing to apply for a head coaching assignment is not eligible to serve on the Selection Committee for the relevant age group.
Evaluation Criteria
·         Baseball Experience
·         Coaching Experience
·         Statement of Coaching Philosophy & Attitude
·         Availability and commitment to the projected team schedule
·         Interview (if appropriate)
·         Feedback from Applicant's Reference
·         Feedback from Prior Year's Parents
·         Skill Level of Applicant's Child
 
While the individual members of the Selection Committee may value the above criteria in varying relation to one another, each must explain and justify his ranking rationale to the others.  Ultimately, one candidate per team will be chosen in a democratic process.
 
Coaching applications can be found on the VCBS Home Page under the Documents Tab on the left side of the page.  It is listed as 2009 MCBR Coaching Application.  Once you complete the application you must email it to the VCBS Board at with the subject "2009 MCBR Coaching Application"
